Barkley is one of Bellingham's newer areas, a district of subdivisions, townhomes, and the shops around Barkley Village out on the east side. The homes here are newer and the gutters are usually in decent shape, so the issue is rarely the gutter itself. It is the drainage. On clay, flat lots like these, the fix is almost always about moving the water out and away, oversized downspouts, extensions, and often a below-grade drain line that carries the water to a safe daylight point well clear of the house.
